Hey. I’m 24, a novelist and children’s book writer, and an ex-fat girl who is involved in a life-long love affair with food. I live in Virginia Beach, VA, so most of what I’m reviewing is going to be in the Hampton Roads area. However, Dave (the boyfriend who accompanies me on my ‘Eating Excursions’) is from Philadelphia, PA and I’m from a small town north of Pittsburgh, PA, and the two of us met at Penn State in State College, PA, so you will very likely be getting some reviews of places in those cities.
I have two strange ways of determining if I’m going to like a restaurant or not: #1. I request my drinks in a very specific way (Diet Coke with a slice of lemon, into which I add a packet of Sweet N’ Low). If the server does not replace my drink in exactly that fashion and instead simply refills the glass, that’s a strike. #2. The first time I patronize a restaurant, I order a regular cheeseburger, no additions or subtractions, and eat it EXACTLY as it is served. I don’t even add ketchup. If it’s good, then in general most of the food should be. If they can’t even get a cheeseburger right… well, I won’t likely be back.
